This page contains information on minor characters that appear in Kagerou Project.
Mr. Kido[]
Mr. Kido was an emotionless man. From his youth, his future was decided by his father. The school he went to, the job he got and even his wife, Mrs. Kido, was arranged by his father. Because of this, he wanted to live free. He met Tsubomi's mother after his father's death at a cheap dinner theater.[1]
Tsubomi met her and Rin's father at her mother's funeral, after which he adopted her and took her into his mansion. There, he did not interact with her but sometimes played the violin by himself, which she would sometimes hear without knowing its source. When his business failed, he decided to kill his wife, his mansion's workers, and Rin to begin his life anew with Tsubomi, who highly resembled his true love, her mother. Before he could kill Rin, though, Tsubomi killed him with a spear that was held by a suit of armor in his basement. However, he had already set fire to the mansion, and the flames not long after reached the basement where his daughters were. Tsubomi no longer remembers killing him thanks to Concealing Eyes and only remembers at the time of her death in the Novel Route.[2]
Tsubomi's Mother[]
Tsubomi Kido's biological mother was a singer who performed in small venues. Tsubomi's parents met when her father already had a family of his own, and Tsubomi's mother singularly raised her until she died while Tsubomi was still a child.
When alive, she bonded with her daughter over their mutual love for music[3] and took her to live performances.[4] Tsubomi describes her as lively person and someone you could easily get close to.
Mr. Kido claimed that his true love was Tsubomi's mother, so he killed his wife and planned to kill their daughter, Rin, to start a new life with Tsubomi.
Mrs. Kido[]
Kido's stepmother was married to Mr. Kido and had given birth to Rin before he had an affair with Kido's mother. She avoided talking to or even meeting with Tsubomi after the latter joined their family and home.[4] Sometime afterwards, Mr. Kido imprisoned Mrs. Kido in their mansion's basement, where she passed away.[1]
Mrs. Kano[]
Shuuya Kano's mother. Though she physically abused him, Shuuya still cared for his mother and wished for his injuries to not be noticed by others. As depicted in Kagerou Daze V -the deceiving-, a young Shuuya came home one August 15th to see his mother being bound by a robber. Wanting to retrieve his mother's jewelry, Shuuya tried to fight him off. When the man arrived with a knife, Mrs. Kano was fatally stabbed while trying to protect Shuuya. Upon seeing this, Shuuya fought back and was killed. The two then entered the Kagerou Daze, where Mrs. Kano remained, and Shuuya returned with Deceiving Eyes.
Kano's Aunt[]
A non-blood relative of Kano, whom he calls his mother's "half sister-in-law, maybe". She took Shuuya in after Mrs. Kano's death,[5] but she believes herself to be haunted after seeing Shuuya appearing as his mother with Deceiving Eyes. After some exorcists identified Shuuya as the issue, she gave him up to a local orphanage, where he would meet Kido and Seto.[6]
Hanako[]
Kousuke Seto's first friend, a stray dog he met when he was a young orphan on the streets. Hakano was Kousuke's only friend, and the boy wished he could understand the dog even without words. One August 15th, the two were thrown into a river by bullies and entered the Kagerou Daze, and Kousuke returned with Stealing Eyes.
Hanao[]
Seto's hamster, as noted in the Children Record Booklet.[7] It is shown during Haruka's visit to the Tateyama household during the development of the Headphone Actor game, when Seto presents it to their visitor. Hanao also appears in Seek at Mekakucity, where Seto brings it up as a way to solve one of the puzzle rooms his group is stuck at.
Forest Chief[]
A hamster seen in Manga Route 2. As its title implies, it is the chief animal of the forest around Azami's cottage. Its main seen mode of transportation is riding atop a moose's head, and other animals obey its commands with respect and fear.
It encounters Seto in the forest and, upon seeing his red eyes, concludes that he must be related to Azami, whom its ancestors have told tales of for generations. It leads Seto to her cottage, protecting him along the way, and departs from him there. This would lead to Seto meeting Marry Kozakura.
It is assumed that it is not Seto's hamster, Hanao, due to no mention of the name in the manga and also its high rank in the forest.
Mr. Kozakura[]
Shion's husband and Marry's father. Not much is known about him as he has passed long before the series' present day. Gunjou Rain (chapter) indicates that Shion loved him and has fond memories of him. It is not actually known if his last name is "Kozakura" and if he is where the surname comes from, but it is presumed.
Mrs. Kisaragi[]
Shintaro and Momo Kisaragi's mother. A single mother and widow, she ran into some trouble with work a few years ago, which motivated Momo to begin her career as an idol; Mekakucity Actors shows that she was hospitalized from overwork at this time.
While she takes good care of both of her kids and supports Shintaro despite his status as a hikki-NEET, she is still shown to be stern with them. For example, in Kagerou Daze -in a daze-, she hits Shintaro for an alarm Ene blares at three in the morning, and in Manga Route 2, her kids do their best to hide Hibiya Amamiya and the fact that they're awake from her when sneaking him into their home at night.
Mr. Kisaragi[]
Shintaro and Momo's father. One August 15th, he took a young Momo with him to the beach, where she got too far from the shore, and he tried to save her. They both drowned and entered the Kagerou Daze, where Mr. Kisaragi remained while Momo got out with Drawing Eyes. It is shown through flashbacks that Momo blames herself for her father's death.[8]
According to Jin, he wanted to name Shintaro "Momotaro" at first but was denied by his wife. [9]
Tono[]
Shintaro's female pet white rabbit, as seen in Losstime Memory's PV and the Kagerou Daze manga. Its name (殿) is a respectful Japanese honorific that roughly translates to "my lord". It is a fan of papayas and electric cables.
Shintaro is shown to care for Tono greatly, at least in Manga Route 2; he is shown to buy Tono expensive, premium-quality food and bedding. Alongside that, he leaves his home for the first time in two years after he accidentally spills a bottle of soda over Tono's food while arguing with Ene, and Shintaro later dotes over Tono while it's eating.
Takane's Grandmother[]
Takane's grandmother was her primary caretaker in lieu of her parents, as seen in Kagerou Daze II -a headphone actor-. It is unknown what happens to her after Takane's disappearance.
Mr. Amamiya[]
Hibiya's father. He originally denied Hibiya's repeated requests to go to the city to study for the summer (in reality, it was just to spend time with Hiyori) and only complied when he heard his son's lie about a city-exclusive summer program on Indian culture. In Act 04: Kagerou Daze, he physically threw Hibiya out of their home to the dogs and locked him out after each request.
Mr. Kokonose[]
Haruka Kokonose's father. He lost Haruka's mother to a hereditary condition that their son also has. Mr. Kokonose frankly and correctly told a six-year-old Haruka that he would die from his condition within ten years. Since then, he became emotionally distant from his son and left most of Haruka's care to a home nurse.
He also apparently personally knows Kenjirou Tateyama, which the Snake of Clearing Eyes used to guarantee that Haruka would become Kenjirou's student to make it easier for Haruka to die on August 15th, enter the Kagerou Daze, and for his body to return to the real world as Konoha.
Mr. and Mrs. Asahina[]
Hiyori Asahina and Ayaka Tateyama's parents. Hibiya claims that they are one of the top three richest families in the countryside. Subsequently, their daughter Hiyori is the most popular girl in her small, countryside school, as they had her take fancy lessons such as tea ceremonies and calligraphy and frequently traveled with her to cities, where they bought her luxury goods such as a cellphone.[10]
When their elder daughter, Ayaka, estranged herself from them by going to travel their world, they cut ties with her. They apparently did not speak of her to anyone, not even to Hiyori, who only learned about Ayaka after her death. [11]
Momo's Idol Agent[]
Momo's idol agent/manager. In the novels, she is a woman who scolds Momo several times for her poor professional choices, such as going out in public despite her popularity. In the Novel, Manga, and Anime Routes, Momo ends up telling her manager that she quits before her cellphone is broken, thus ending her idol career, though her in-universe media such as Tomodachi no Uta indicate that she continues her career after the events of Act 12: Summmertime Record.
She is not to be mistaken for the idol recruiter who approached Momo's home in Act 02: Kisaragi Attention.
Terrorists[]
Terrorists who inevitably attack the 7th floor of the department store on August 14th of every Route. They use both bombs and guns to suppress everyone, and they have a leader who makes their main announcements through the floor's PA systems. Every incident, they gather everyone else as hostage and demand 1 billion yen within an hour before they start killing. They are eventually suppressed by the Mekakushi Dan members who are in the floor at the time.
In Kagerou Daze manga, they wear military-like gear, while in Mekucity Actors they wear loose suits and clown masks.
In Kagerou Daze -in a day's-, someone among the terrorists seems to have an eye ability, though his identity nor ability is not revealed. It is speculated that this may have been the Snake of Clearing Eyes.
Villagers[]
Tsukihiko's local villagers who ostracized him and called him a "monster" for his unusual appearance. In Manga Route 2 and the Anime Route, they locate Azami's cottage and attack her home, leading her to afterwards enter the Kagerou Daze without her family.
In the Anime Route specifically, as seen in Act 10: Kuusou Forest, they torture Tsukihiko to try to get Azami's location before the attack, and, during the attack, one of the villagers inexplicably bears a striking resemblance (and the same voice) to Kousuke Seto. He ends up being the sole survivor due to refusing to attack after seeing Shion, and Azami allows him to flee after using Stealing Eyes on him and then intimidating him to never return.
