Kagerou Daze No.9 (カゲロウデイズNo.9 Kagerō Deizu No.9) is a spin-off[1] of Kagerou Project set 3 years after the main story in Fujisawa and Enoshima, Japan, with a different "angle" than before. It will be told through manga, anime, music, and light novels.[2][3] It was originally planned to be screened in January 2020, with art provided by Sayuki featuring a new character designed by him. The ending theme song is draw.[4][5]
Jin has said it "gives off the vibe of short stories" and "will take place in a completely different time and will have a different plot" as well.[6][7]
The anime was originally set to premier January 26, 2020, but was delayed due to "various circumstances".[8][9][10] Jin provided an update on the 10th anniversary of Kagerou Project, February 17, 2021, that he's been working hard on the anime's script, new music, and working with a company called ARCH.[11] On August 5, 2021, Jin apologized for being unable to proceed on Mekakucity Reboot, Kagerou Daze No.9, and the "New Chapter" due to copyright issues, and that he hopes to resolve them. He said he will put more effort into it so that the time fans wait will be rewarded.[12] On November 22, 2022, Jin and ARCH said they were not aware of where the series' copyright was located.[13]
